What do we mean when we say that Sandtastik contains no free silica or quartz?
Firstly, let’s examine sand found in dunes and on beaches. Toxicologists have proven that some of those tiny little grains of sand may contain known natural carcinogens. A carcinogen is a substance that causes cancer. Substances like silica and quartz through prolonged exposure to skin, inhalation or ingestion have potential health risks. Sandtastik sand is made from the feldspar family of rock which does not contain any carcinogens. It is 100% pure safe sand.
How much sand do I need to fill a typical tray?
25 lbs of sand will fill most trays nicely to about the halfway point. We recommend keep a bit extra on hand to top the sand back up after inevitable spills.

The play sand was great for kids to express themselves with play. The only downside was that the sand creates a significant amount of dust in the room and the air. I plan to use caution with anyone who may have any respiratory issues.

I had to submit a return request, because this sand was so dusty. My clients had sand dust on their hands after playing with it and a dusty fog around the sand table. So the product was one star. The company was fantastic, though, and issued a full refund immediately. They were 5 stars! I’ve reordered the new course sand and am hoping it will truly be dust free or at least much less dusty than this one.

This sand is soft and beautiful. However, my first client's hands were covered in dust within a few minutes, and there were clouds of dust rising from the sand as she moved it around. She chose not to work in the sand the following week. I am already looking for replacement sand.
