This is a phenomenal starter kit. I'm impressed with both the variety and the quality of the miniatures. This has been great so far for sandtray work with kids and teens. The miniatures represent a good mix of real life, imaginative, aggressive, and metaphorical.

Great kit, and as this is our second order, I appreciated some of the updates such as the large nest with eggs. A wish might be the inclusion of a diverse selection of some of the molded plastic people. I realize more of those are included in the Platinum kit but when we're equipping three play therapy rooms, the leap to the Platinum price is significant on a limited budget.

Overall, great stuff and we'll be ordering what we need in other ways!

Wonderful place for me to start my sand tray therapy journey! I feel less overwhelmed about having to source everything myself, especially as someone who is new to the world of sand tray therapy. I can't wait to delve into this collection with my clients- so many little figurines were included that make so much sense, but that I would have never thought of, and I am so grateful for that!

These miniatures are wonderful for teaching and implementing sand tray therapy with clients. I have used in them to train graduate students, and recently used them in Kosovo (I filled my suitcase) to train therapists there to do sand tray with children with autism. They have an excellent variety of objects, all of which are used regularly in therapy.

I opted to get this starter kit based on a number of considerations, including the price, number of items included, and specific items listed. Although the description stated there may be slight variations in the content, I found there were a lot of substitutions, including some of the items I specifically wanted that were not listed in the other kits. Regardless, it contained a nice variety of minis and I especially liked that several toobs were included. Overall it is a good kit.

Love these miniatures! This is a great starter set, I have used it as is for 2 weeks and haven't added anything yet, but I will. It has nurturing items, aggressive items, people, landscape items and much more, which I feel make it pretty well rounded for clients to use. Only complaint is that the wheels on the vehicles don't move and clients do not use them because they notice that (maybe not realistic enough for them). I would also like some more expressive/artsy/creative pieces like painted rocks, or emotional items to add to this set. However, it really is a great starter set if you are starting from scratch like I am!

I am disappointed with the fabric-clothed people, as the sand will cling to them. Does anyone know why we have these in a sand tray set, especially as they are rather large? I would have also liked to see more vegetation/trees; the kit came with only three identical coniferous trees, no bushes. It would be better to send two different houses/buildings rather than two identical ones (the white metal ones with the rings at the top). But many of the other pieces are thoughtful: handcuffs, pirate's gold, bottles, coffin, angel... things that could have deep meaning in difficult contexts. Overall, I see a lot of thought and care put into the selection.

This is a decent starter - not sure for $150. There are definitely sacred beings missing from this set. Some things like the little skateboard don't feel necessary to a small set like this. I would prefer more necessary items. Good set of families though they were very huge compared to the other toys in the collection. If you were putting together some kits you could probably do it yourself for cheaper. If its just for you I'm not sure how you would do it! Wish there was something better for a starter kit.

Wow this kit is an amazing starter kit! I was so excited when unpacking it! I live in BC, Canada and the kit came quite fast I was surprised (5 days I believe). My students have really enjoyed using the miniatures and the kit fits well with the materials I wanted to gather for a course- Synergetic Play Therapy. We ordered 7 boxes of these thinking they would all be the same, for the most part they were with subtle differences. This is listed in the description that each box may be different that what is shown and this was the case. The box is a great start for beginning sandtray therapists. I would encourage marine animals, snakes and multiples of animals. None of the boxes we had included these.

It was a gift to my mom who is a therapist and it is starting her sand therapy kit. I bought it for her as an incentive. I have to say that I was surprised with the variety of the miniatures that came with it. I did think that the price was too high for the quality of some, but still worth it because of the variety and I hope she likes it.

I liked that they added items such as wishing well, a dragon and a bridge.
I found that the items are reflective of masculinity, ie soldiers dinosaur, medieval knights etc. I was hopping to get items that were gender neutral, like a family of animals. II found I had to purchase more after session with girls as they were asking for items like gemstones, fairy, angels, flowers.
Not culturally diverse for a starting kit. I have hard time to believe it as premium starter kit when it lacks gender and cultural diversity

For the price, this is a great way to get started! I bought this for the agency where I work, and we had a tight budget for figures. The list of items accurately portrays the categories of miniatures included. Great way to accumulate items from key categories without spending tons of time and money. I think I am especially going to value the 2 hollow houses, trees, tealight, and variety of professional and family figures.

However, I think a few minor changes to the kit could make it really shine, without adding many additional figures. I'll be making some changes before I really feel comfortable using this with clients. The only religious symbols in the kit are a cross and 2 angels, and I think a few more symbols would be important. I'd also sacrifice some animals (not really!) in order to have one animal family. None of the animals in the kit could be related. If the single strip of wooden fencing were replaced with a small set of plastic fences, I think the "Boundaries" would be much more versatile for clients to use. Fences are super important in sand tray. Some of the camels (there were 6!) could be replaced with monsters, sea creatures, signs, or even shells or stones. And finally, but perhaps most important to my work, some of the white figures need to be replaced by figures of color... the set is not as diverse as it suggests it is! With a little adding and replacing, this kit is a great way to get started quickly!

I am so grateful for this starter kit. I cannot recommend it more highly, especially if you are just beginning your sandtray miniatures collection. I already had many pieces, but this kit caught my eye. In particular, I saw the wooden coffin, skeletal hands, etc, and knew I needed to add those items. I was intrigued by the collection and so ordered the whole kit. What arrived includes a full array of pieces for the expressive arts, ranging from mythical to dark, from farm animals to trees, fences, beautiful natural rocks, small miniatures of food, angels, wooden people, and more. I have had several sessions with teens and adults choosing these items for their sandtray work. I was so happy to have such a wide selection for them to choose from. Lastly, the price is excellent for this kit. If I had tried to replicate it on my own I am sure I would have spent far more money.
