Description:

How many times have you sat down with a child, given the child a topic, and had the child draw about it? If you are an experienced counselor it is probably too many times to remember. And if you are a beginning counselor, in no time you will lose count, too. Why? Because drawing is a familiar and comfortable means of communication for children.

Colorful Counseling brings you 10 ready-to-reproduce lifeskill units that will enable children to communicate their thoughts and emotions through drawings which can later be used as springboards for discussion.

The worksheets may be used with individual students, small groups, and even classroom-sized groups as a means to get children thinking and talking. Age level, topic of discussion, and application are left to the discretion of the counselor who can use the worksheets independently, combine them for different topics of discussion, or use them to make booklets about different subject areas.

Each of the 10 life skill booklets has a cover sheet, summary back cover, and approximately 10 drawing sheets for the students to complete. The topics are:

This is a great tool to use with kiddos. If you are looking for a book that is more instructional then this may not be a good choice. It is book for therapists or parents to use to supplement discussions that you are having with the kids.
