Glad Monster, Sad Monster: A Book About Feelings
Helping young children or those individuals with learning disabilities to express their feelings can be challenging for therapists and parents. This book makes it easy and practical for caregivers and therapists to allow children to address internal feelings. Sometimes, I tell a story using puppets of the sad monster prior to using the book and then explain that sharing our feelings helps the glad monster out better. Children participate in this activity and easily share their own stories. This excellent resource can be a guide for these individuals to discuss their feelings about various experiences in their lives. I recommend this book as a resource for counselors and parents with young children. I also used this book with individuals with intellectual dysfunction limitations and was able to elicit understandings about how they felt during the various events in their life. Awesome resource.

This is a classic but young children never seem to tire of this book. It is selected time and time again by children 3-5. An interactive way to talk about feelings. I replace it often.
